HOA-friendly shed solar: what to know
Many HOAs restrict permanent structures or visible changes. Shed solar can still work if you keep it low-profile and removable.
**Use flexible, removable panels.** They sit flat on the roof and mount with bolts and grommets—no big racks or ground mounts. If you need to take them down, you can without leaving a permanent structure.
**Avoid permanent fixtures.** Don’t add a dedicated “solar structure” that looks like a permanent install. Our approach is shed-only: panels on the shed roof, battery and electronics in or next to the shed. That usually fits under “accessory” use.
**Talk to your board if needed.** Have a short description ready: removable panels, no new structures, powering an existing shed. We can provide wording you can share. Many boards are fine once they understand it’s not a full rooftop array.
